I did hammer bar 13 last night for a bit, and semi-got there i guess, but i feel im concentrating so hard i'mma dribble down myself haha. I'm sure i'll get there eventually with this piece. In general i need more, and on this piece i definitely need more.
I had to ask him to just give me a piece, any piece, to learn from nothing, not hearing it, or him playing it. I had a tutor for a few months last year. This i feel i need to do more of also as (on another point you mentioned) i'm actually pretty good at listening to a song, and just playing what i hear, and so because i know the song, i find myself not counting along which i know is bad. I did this last night, very slow rhythmic counting, making sure to hit every note when and where needed.
I'd love to know this whole piece, but maybe its something to work upto as you mentioned. So i'm trying to tell myself to do a minimum of 20-30 mins each night and get a routine going. I bought my piano on a whim, smashed it with lessons, theory, pieces etc for around 3 months, and then barely touched the thing for 6. Its unfortunately a trait of mine that i get super interested in something and fly at 100mph only to, not even get bored and do something else, its just that i stop and then something else comes along. I just dont want to give up on this one as i have done with a number of other pieces. But had he played it before, i'd have copied him and potentially been able to play it without sheet music.Key signatures, sure i slip up occasionally, but i feel this one is relatively easy as its just AB and DE, least in my mind anyway. You are right again about difficulty, I will focus solely on this but will take breaks and just play around or on other simpler pieces if im flustered.
